wiring whats this ??+ trans wiring

hi
striping a soarer down at the mo and plan to swap engine/auto box into a beetle.
we have come across this but unsure what it is and if we need it.
the switch on the centre consul runs through it that changes the trans from normal to performance.
also the overdrive switch runs through it.

can this be bypassed.
also can i do away with the o/d switch.
if i leave it out will o/d be operational.

all it is is a big junction box
what a mess
i dont think ive ever had that much shiet when wiring a 1uz
you should just need the enigne harness and an extra plug at the most

was tracing wires from trans switches was why its looks like spagettie junction

If you don't have an OD OFF switch the car will operate normally, but you want be able to drop the car back from OD to D when ever you choose.
Its mainly used when towing.

Likewise for the PWR switch. If its not connected the ecu will just remain in NORM.

new or old one?
you can wheelstand one with an aircooled motor imagine with a 1uz!!

thanks for the answer.makes it really simple.

shallis its going in the front of the beetle.
going to use as much of the running gear as possible as well,though slightly narrowed on a full tube chassis.
