where is the tach signal generated? ('94 1UZFE)

where can i pick up a tach signal on this engine? coil negative? does it come out as an 8 cylinder signal?

on a similar subject, i think i know where the speed sensor on the transmission is, does anyone know which wires do what on that? looking for a pulse per mile signal.

in the process of installing a custom instrument cluster with programmable digital gauges into a UZ powered hilux.

on the ignitors one has four wires and one has five wires.... i pretty sure from memory its the 5th extra wire is the signal to the guage and the tacho has to be set to 4cyl... speed sensor is negative trigger and is a pink wire (i think) but im sure gloverman or sideshow will correct me if im wrong

u can also pick up tach signal on diagnostic plug next to manifold
ig- terminal
or even trace the tacho wire from iggnitor or ig- to inside the car to
where the body plugs are
wire is black
speedo wires change colours depending on stuff so bit hard to explain without more info
but usually centre wire on 3 pin speedo wire is ground
one side is 12v other side is signal

speedo sensor power wires usually red/blue or sometimes yellow
