Im doing a conversion with a sc400 (uzz-31) engine/computer and w58 gbox. (2931 stamped on box, if that helps) and 3.5:1 diff and 15-16" wheels
i need an electronic speedo sensor.
Can anyone tell me what sensor i need (part no. would be great.)
Thanks boys.

i have seen a thread where someone detailed how they put a w58 in a sc400 (with pics), a while ago. but i can't find it again.
if anyone can link to it, or tell me who it was i will be eternaly greatfull.

I have a hilux due in this week with a W57 which needs an electronic sensor so I will tell you when I recheck what I did last time. I should have it somewhere. Cheers

take a pic of the gbox where the sensor is supposed to go

ive got about 10 diff speed sensors in my box at work
one should be able to fit

i have 2nd hand an d new sensors that will screw onto that thread on the speedo drive

do u want 2nd hand or new and what speedo are u running int he dash

y the hell u going to run one of those dashes
they play up often
ive hgad to fix about 5 of them

anyway i can test an sc400 sensor and supply u one to suit
but remember it might not be 100% accurate
u might have to play with the gear in yr speedo drive depending what diff u r running
so it might be afew % out due to the fact the sc400 might have had a different ratio diff to yours

They look good, and everyone uses the same old overpriced autometer stuff,
and i want to keep as much of the toyota wiring etc. as posible (no point reinventing the wheel...)

What tends to go wrong with the sc dash?

I'm aware of diff/wheel speed errors.
Jaycar does an electronic speedo corrector, or i can easily make up a gear reduction box.

Thanks alot for your help.
Just out of interest, where do you work?

Oh yeah, how much do you want for a sensor?

sensors i have are 50 bucks

i wouldnt piss on autometer stuff
vdo is bit better priced and better quality

when u say toyota wiring why is that
getting an sc400 dash to work 100% is not a 5 minute job
anyway find what each wire does and carefully wire it up

gear redution boxes are for cable speedos
jaycar adjsuter is ok fo for adjusting yr elect speedo

they sc dashes blank out once they get old
have u sorted a fuel level sender to suit the sc dash
u might be able ot fit the sc fuel pump assembly

I was just going to try and use the whole wiring loom from the front of the sc. BUgger tring to use 40 year old holden wiring. (did i mention its going into a torana?)

Havent looked at doing the fuel tank yet. Ill build a drop tank myself, so i can install a sc sender in it.
I have a bosch 034 around somewhere, i'll probably use that.

i guess u havent seen behind a soarer dash

spent a full day stripping one ages ago
there is a million things behind there hehehe

but if u take yr time over a month u should be able to strip the harness down
and just use the bits u need
im at sss automitive in girraween

we have done afew ls2s into an old ht and lx hatch
much beter choice of motor if u want power i think
we got around 300kws at wheels with just a cam change and tune

dont get me started on yank crap. thay need 6 litres to do what jap's can do with 2! :) P)
let me know when you have a sensor ready to go, i'll shoot over and get it.
