I come across some V160 / V161 gearbox for sale in Thailand. Gear box is from either 2jzgte or 2jzge
Price is around 2300usd. (+ - 15%)
I am a Singaporean and work in Bangkok (Thailand). I love the 1uzfe and will be putting it in a BMW318is E36. I will run it with a V160 or V161 manual 6speed gearbox.
While looking for the gearbox back in Bangkok, I notice the price is cheap compare to other countries. Please correct me if there is somewhere cheaper. As such, for those who are intrested in the gearbox, I can help them to buy.
The following is the check I will do while selecting the gearbox,
1) try to turn and see the rear end and the front turns firmly and is there any "ball bearing" noise
2) look out for shaft play
3) shift the gear to check if all the gear can be engage
4) external visual check for cracks etc
5) any oil leak
6) ??? please advise for any other test
In addition, the spare parts shop will give warrenty for any defect gearbox.
I will go out to buy myself 1 pc in 2 or 3 days time. Please let me know if I am getting it cheap. So I won't pay more for it. Thanks in advance. I will put up picture of it.
Gearbox should be complete with everything except clutch and flywheel.
