Hi All, am a newbie on here. Have been trawling the site the last few days for info on uzfe into an fd rx. Am currently a planning a drift build and hoping to go with the uz. I have found some info on the swap but not alot which leads me to believe that the sump, steering and cross-member issues are tricky-ish. Has anyone on here completed the swap or know of anyone that has? I read in one of the posts of a guy in NZ with that carried out the swap on a track/drag car...any info that. Any info/pointer appreciated. Have added a pic of the starting point for the build.

hey whats going on mon, hence my name ull know im a rotor head, yes the UZ has been swap into the rx7 many times i dont have links cuz i preffer the rotary to anyother engines hands down, except im my toyota tundra , have fun

We have FC in the shop at the moment ready for a 1uz and will be suppling another workshop with parts for another one. Both motors are in the workshop at the moment. Cheers

Thanks lads, will be keeping an eye on here for any up and coming builds and as soon as I get rockin n rolling meself I'll get the pics up. Will be shooting for around 300 brake initially to get the car on the car track so any opinions on engine set up to achieve that would be cool. @ gloverman...u have a site or can you give me an idea of the sort of gear you can supply engine wise?

I have indeed Muzz, its a cool build...well done. Theres a wealth of great information on here and its all helping me to get some sort of a plan together before I get my hands on the donor car.

Yeah...slow and painful to be honest but hopefully loads of satisfaction. Dont have a lot of cash to throw at it, this is the main reason its gonna be a drawn out affair. will keep at it....

Sound Deadening and Bodykit removal coming soon!

I agree it is lots of fun, this is my first project and I'm also blown away by the amount of weight thats taken up by everything from wiring loom to carpets to all the gear under the dash...crazy. I reckon less than 50% of what came out will be going back in!! Will refurb as much as the mechanical parts as possible but have a feeling they'll be lots of 'Spares'!!!

I had a fair idea it was gonna take some time to get this baby finished so I took a few measurements and knocked this shell spit / chassis turner together. Alittle rough around the edges but works fine and has saved me some serious hardship!! I stuck a few dimensions on it in case anyone is interested and have a few more pics too if anyone needs more info drop me a line.

Those are my favorite hot rod cars! I love those RX's. I've modified a few race built RX FD's and they haul butt. Of course the engines are doomed with the wimpy cooling system and such but they haul the mail. I miss em. Putting a lightweight 1UZ in one is the right thing to do! You'll have an amazing car when you are done. You did the right thing by just throwing out all the crap and starting out fresh. I can't wait to see how things go as you are building your car. Great project!

Wow, what a massive project. Your idea makes me want to build a shell turner for my S13. It's as stripped as yours and on jack stands. I found out that when the car is that light, jack stands might not be the best idea, as just the weight of my hand lifted the front end up before I pulled the gas tank out. Keep the pics coming, can't wait to see the chassis work!

Been up to me t1ts lately building our house so progress with the mistress has been slow...few updates...
