My wife's been working at U-Haul and they have a bunch of old Toyota trucks with the boxes still on them that they are selling off. They are all 1989 models with the 3VZ-E engine. I rented one awhile back and remembered that they don't accelerate at all with that V6. I've been reading through the forums on swapping various engines into that chassis, but most people have been converting to manual when they do it. If I wanted to do this swap and use the 1UZ trans and engine, what else would be required? Has anyone used the 1UZ automatic and kept their truck 2wd?

I don't think the 3vze is good for hauling anything personally. 150 horsepower, 180 lb ft of torque.... It's a real slug of a motor.

Fairly sure I won't be able to give mine away when I pull it. It'll go off to the scrap yard probably.

U-Haul has a ton of them. If you go to their website, there's a link to truck sales. Just around me there's at least 10 of them available. I also heard they are VERY negotiable on the price.

The 3VZ is junk. they blow head gaskets all the time.

Put the engine & parts up on
www.yotatech.com or
www.pirate4x4.com

the emission control stuff and efi sensors are worth a little $$.
the block is worth $100 -150 as are the heads if they are not cracked.
