Trouble Code 31

Hello all,I own a 91 LS400 with 145K having hesitating and jerking problem that initiated both the engine and the track light on (caused the engine to die sometimes). This problem happens mostly in the morning time whenever the HUMIDITY is kind of HIGH outside, same thing on a rainy day 2-3 minutes right after I start driving. Not to forget, mufflers seem to be spitting with bad smell.

I got code 31 after diagnosing the problem which indicates to "Air Flow Meter"

- Will replacing the AFM fix my problem for sure?
- How about cleaning the existing AFM with "STP throttle body and air intake cleaner"?

Please advice.

If the code is AFM, then cleaning it will not help. Most likely the AFM sensor is bad. U can just replace the sensor without replacing the whole unit. Used runs about 140 USD.

I would suggest Ebay for the best price or local junk yard. Contact a member here named ACleanSC4 for qaulity used Lexus Products. He works part time in a Used Lexus Part Store. Ask him if you can get a Lextreme discount.
