Hey zuffen, i loved your article on the DIY one, good job. I just have one question, in this connection will this weaken anything? Like will the plate be able to take high HP aplications? I was thinking about doing this im just wondering so i can try to have my bases covered. And in the article you said you just used steel, would mild steel be a minimum?

I used mild stel because I can work with it easier and if necessary I can weld it.

Hi grade alloy would work as well but would need to be twice as thick to get anywhere near the equivalent strength. The rule of thumb is alloy must be 3 time the thickness of steel to have the equivalent strength.

If you don't mind the weight penalty use steel but alloy would look better.
