I want to use the original temp gauge on the rover which is a 10 volt jobby, so i thought i would use the rover sender on the lexus engine. What temp does the water run at in the lexus or what temp stat is used?

From memory the stat is 84degreesC.

I'd plumb the Rover sensor into the engine and use it just for the dash. You could drill and tap the front waterbridge so you get accurate readings.

The Toyota factory sensor talks to the ECU so I woudn't be in a rush to swap it out.

Thanks, the rover stat is 82 so the gauge should be ok to use- it doesnt show temp, just green or red. Looking at the front water bridge theres a flat in line with the outlet- looks like a good spot for a sender.

its not,i thought the same and drilled it,its not thick enough to tap it.

Just remove the stock sensor (single wire one) and install the rover one.

I used the Toyota temp sender with my Rover dash and it worked sweet.

yes very similar,reads a fraction lower with the stock lexus sender matched to stock old school rover gauge.
