hay guys i was thinking of making some headers out of some squair/rectangal steel tube

are there any reasons not to do this ??

i just think it would look sweet haveing squar headers

any help would be great thanks

Square or rectangle tube doesnt come with many different bend options, so it will be a nightmare for fabricate exhaust. Beside the turbulence created by sharp edges, you dont have too many choices on the thickness of the tubes. Therefore, its not a great choice. Some people use oval tube for space saving fabs.

Other than individual preference for appearance there is no benefit and multiple negatives to square exhaust header primary tubes. Square tubes are difficult to bend into the complex shapes needed in headers, they have poor fluid dynamics especially when bent, they have more wall area than flow area compared to round tubes and the corners create a problem with boundary layer flow (or lack thereof)

Yeah, the slower moving gasses in the corners would be holding up the faster moving flow in the center of the tubes.
