Sensors

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
Hi All.
Just wanting to know if there is anyway to wire up water temp / oil temp with alternate dash gauges, I have a new set of gauges with there own sensors, I was just thinking if I could just leave the existing ones in for the ECU and put the new ones in piggyback style and have 2 sensors going to the ECU and the 2 new ones going to the gauges.
I ask as the guy selling the gauges thinks the sensors he is selling with the gauges may not be compatible with the ECU.

This is on a 1UZ-FE

For the water temp, there are three sensors on the front water bridge. One is for the ECU, one is for the OEM gauge, and one is a thermostatic switch for the cold start injector. If you have no need for the OEM gauge, you could replace that sensor with your aftermarket sensor. It's the smallest of the three, and only has a single wire connection. It's a small thread, perhaps a 1/8" BSP?

Oil sensor same way; it's located on the oil filter cast housing and is also probably a 1/8" BSP.

Oil teperature doesn't have an OEM sensor so I used the oil level sender access point into the sump, removed the floats and switch and simply attached the oil temp sender to the original in sump bracket. I then connected up the wiring so that I could use the original OEM plug to send the temp signal.

Re the water temperature instrument sender it will be a yellow and green wire coming from the sender on the water bridge with a single spade connector into a plug( connecting the engine loom into the body loom and containing also the start signal wire, the black tacho wire from the ignitor and a few others) near the ECU plugs. Simply connect this wire into your aftermarket gauge and it should run fine. At least mine did using a Green Gauges / Speedy Cables Temp gauge.

I still however need to get a filter on the tacho wire signal so the aftermarket tacho can read the Lexus signal from the ignitor.

Cheers,

Tony

the guy selling gauges must be on drugs

i dont thinbk he understands how gauegs work

u buy gauges and make sure they have the snesors for those gauges
u find new spots on engine to fit these sensors then wire it up

1uz has a temp sensor for factory dash
and oil sensor for factory dash
if you ar ento running factory dash remove these sensors then fit new ones
some drilling and tapping might be needed

its that simple

it amazing so many people sell a product they know nothing about

I think Jim has been asked too many dumb questions over the years and has simply grown tired of the same questions coming into his life.

I'm not suggesting this thread falls into that area as I think it was a sound question to ask.

This thread will answer questions for a lot of people.

As Jim said parts guys don't seem to know too much other than how to source a part.

Yesterday I ordered a 1750mm 8 rib serpentine belt by providing the Gates part number.

The Parts guy wanted the make and model of vehicle before he would start. I told him it was a supercharger drive belt and he still wanted the make & model? Go figure!
