hi guys,
i have hooked up my fuel pump using a relay driven by the fpc wire from the ecu
Its a solid state relay that will activate with an input of 3-32V.
the engine will start and idle for a few seconds, then start to die, then pickup, then die...

Anyone have any ideas what the DI and FPC wires do? or how to wire this up so it works?
when i measured them before i connected the relay it looked like the fpc wire went to 12v on cranking then dropped to 4v, but i might be wrong.

Thanks

i just use my modified tachometric relays
they give u a neg trig for 2 seconds when u turn ign on
then they give u a neg trig when the tacho rpm goes above 200 rpm
so if u stall the motor the pump turns off

i never let a car go out of my shop with fuel pump running off ign

They r new units not the crappy old vk commodore ones
50 bucks each
And they take a weak tacho signal from a 1uz 1j 2j
So u don't need to run them of a coil wire

try this and use the oil pressure switch signal.

I have used this on several installs now and it works perfect.

Change over relay is easy to source and replace if you ever need to.

Go for sideshows tachometric relay. works well and works everytime. I use a bosch 044 pump and usually run the motor in a boat at 3/4 - WOT all the time. Never misses a beat.
The inital 2 secs builds pressure before start and good to hear the pump working before you turn the engine over. Engine fires instantly.

that relay wiring is ok but u really need to add another relay

u really need battery power as main input
no use running a relay and getting main power for it thru ign switch
so best of running 2 relays then your not draining power from ign switch power
cause if your runnin a bosch 044 or something similar u could easily be drawing up to 20 amps

if your in sydney just goto holden wreckers and get a tachometric relay from holden
should only cost u 5 bucks and wire that up does the same job

thanks for the free advertising
i try not to use cheap inferior parts that i always have to warrant
i guess thats y i hardly sell parts to guys on forums heheheheheeh
going on holidays in a week
hope to get a rest from work
getting sick of the phone ringing for wrong reasons
i should get a 1800 number or a secretary hahahaahha

Get a secretarty who is good at dictation.....

I agree it should read switched ignition power if you use a changeover relay.

Its working now.
Using 3-32v ss relay from fpc for high speed, and std 12v nc relay from oil preassure for low speed. just have to insert a resistor or rheostat to change the pump speed on low. any sugestions?
