Removing Dowl Pins

Hi all,

Just pulled my haed off the block last night after going nuts trying to figure why it wouldn't come off easy. Turns out I didn't see the two head bolts that are on the outside of the cam covers. Doh!

Anyway there are two dowl rings in the block that locate the head to the block. How do you remove these?

Also the others on the water pump and front face.

I wrap them in duct tape and use multigrips or vice grips to lock onto them and wriggle them out with a turning/pulling motion.

Thanks Rod, are they a reuseable part? I would imagine it would be?

I am getting close to working out a new oil pump / front engine plate / blower drive girdle. Iteresting stuff. I'll post pics when I work it out.

They're re-usable if you don't knacker them getting them out.

You do most damage when the vice grips slip due to not being tight enough.
