Pls Help the new guy ;)

Hi Guys,

Have just joined and was reading a few threads but none seem to match the issues im having, so hoping some of the experts can help.

I just bought a 91 sc400- I was told coils had died...fair enough, I changed the coils and it seemed like it was still running on 7 cylinders. So I changed the leads aswell.

Now I got the car running. When at idle if I try to bring the revs up slowly it goes to about 2-2500 rpm then I cant rev anymore the car just goes back to idle. Now when driving it seems sluggish and wont rev out unless you use the gears...So I thought I would leave it. Came back to try and locate the issue to find that the thing wont start at all now?? Just wanting to know what to look for?
Injectors?
Have I done the coils again- if so is there a reason the coils keeps dying?
Blocked cats??
I have spent a fair bit of cash on thing with no results as yet so any help would be much much appreciated.

It may not be the fuel injectors. Even if 1 or injectors are dead, the car would rev and run, but only sluggish and lose power.

You can check the timing, fuel pressure at the fuel pressure regulator, take out all sparkplug wires and redo again, check coil wires, check sparks. If all of the above are good and you get fuel and sparks, then it may be bad ECU.

Does it still crank & turn strong?

Still cranks but now doesnt turn over...

Check the timing to see if it's right, and the timing belt to see if it's still good. You can open up the plastic sparkplug cover and see the belt. Try to put in a good battery and start it. Also, make sure the starter is still good. You have to hear it try to turn the engine.
