Original Computer?

Hi all,

I am doing a conversion on an older Mercedes sedan (1979 approx) and have a complete front cut from a LS400 V8. I have heard rumours that in order to utilise the standard computer I need to install the dash??
Sounds a bit bizzare from my end - are there any tricks to this??
any help is much appreciated

Welcome Mods, first I've heard about it. There's heaps of info on this site to help you with the install including wiring diagrams, etc. The standard computer (LS400 has one for the engine and auto combined - crown has 2 seperate ones) is looking for a speed signal which I believe is sent from the gearbox as 20 pulses to the speedo where it is divided by 5 to send 4 pulses for the ecu.
