hi..
have irractic idle..usualyy drive around town nice and easy, when doing this idle drops to 450-500rpm,its steady but too low..
if i gun it around idle goes up to 650-750.
sometimes it will go up to 1100, then turning off and restarting (after 30 secs to allow ecu to power down)it will be fine..

ecu? (dont think its air leaks/idcv etc)

idle probs are so hard to fix
firs thting i would do is clean idle motor
but alot of times even doing that wont fix it
they just stuff up even when they look perfect inside
so if u can find another idle motor change it
another thing u can try is put restrictor in yr idle motor feed pipe
this might help abit as idle motor wont have to adjust so much
maybe reduce pipe with restricto to 6 or 8 mm
just try afew diff sizes and see if it helps

last thing is try yr ecu in a perfectly runing car
this is abit hard depending how many lexus cars u know
im lucky as i have access to alot fo spare parts for testing

quickly unplug idle motor whiel it is idling hi
this should in theory leave idle motor wound out for cold start and therefore have hi idle
leave it unplugged and see if idle still plays up
by doing this i hope to achieve a way of disregarding idle motor and take it out of the
equation of diagnosing

if the idle starts hi with the idle mtoro unplugged and doesnt play up then u can sort of say the idle mtoro is playing up

i like that.. nice and easy and cheap!i will try that tomorrow morning...

it already runs a restriction,done to get cold idle down to a sensible level..

i am hunting down a good spare ecu..its gonna live in the spares box in the boot..just in case..as if it will ever stuff up, it will be when i am many many miles from home, never breaks on my doorstep!
