MAF help!

Hi, Does anyone know if the MAF sensor from a 1995 LS400 (Black Plastic One) will work with a 1994 LS400, I bought one thinking it was for a 1994 model but the plug doesn't fit, can I modify the plug or socket to fit or will the ECU not be compatible with it.
Alternatively can I run the engine without an MAF at all or will it refuse to start/rev?

You may have an SC300 unit.

They look similar but are smaller in diameter and have different plugs.

no..i think they are different, different type of injection sytem...

now i may be able to help..i may well need a 95 afm for mine..(will find out tomorrow if my gremlins go away after unplugging my afm)..if i do then i may be perswayed to swap your afm for the good 91 (should be same as your 94 one you dont have) that i have..or to buy your one off you.(atleast then you can go get the correct one and you are not out of pocket..)

I have the same problem, i have a 1990 crown1uz engine an i bought a (plastic afm) same 5pins but the plugs are slightly different. I was thinking of shaving the plug to fit. But i don't know if its compatible.

Plastic body and alloy body air flow meters are completely different in the way they work and the signal they generate. They can not be interchanged. Cheers
