Instrument needle and heater display blackout

The speedometer needle, on my SC400, blacks out at times. Is there a fix, I can do, without just painting the needle with paint? Or does anyone refurbish the intrument clusters to repair this problem,

Also, my heater display back light is out on one side. Does anyone repair these? Can I get the parts to repair myself?

I got the same problem as you do but haven't gotten a chance to check it. Check out these sites http://lextech.org/ & www.planetsoarer.com. As I read somewhere, it's the needle capacitors that died causing them to black out.
