From what I've read on the forum the heater system works with a valve that opens and closes the flow of the engine coolant through the heater radiator. So when it's closed it totally stops the flow of coolant.

Why I want to know this is because I want to totally remove the heater hoses and the metal pipes on the engine but I don't want to affect the engine cooling. I'm just afraid that the heater pipes helps with the flow of the coolant from the rear of the engine to the front, helping the rear run cooler. But if the original system closed it of completely then I shouldn't have a problem if I do it.

Soooo, can I remove and block them totally, or not

We take the pipes out and weld up the holes. This is the best thing to do. I see many people loop a hose between the pipes but this offers no cooling at all and acts as a hot water passage. When in the car the heater core acts as a radiator but only when the heater is on so blanking correctly is not a problem - cheers
