Gear Selector Switch

Hi All,
I have a couple of question on the standard ls400 (94) gear selector switch
How do I connect my reverse lights as this is a none Lexux conversion. Can I just splice into the feed from the selector switch.
I have seen a push button selector in a hot rod mag in the states, is the switch just a voltage in and out or is it connected to something inside the box, ( have not tried to remove it from the box as yet)

Its just a simple switch on the outside of the box. Power in - often blue/red and reverse is normally red/black. The other wires will have power when switched so make sure they don't short to ground when in operation.
