Hey Gang,

We had a group purchase on the Forged Pistons last month or so ago. Please let us know what is your status on your pistons. Are they being build right now or they are just sitting in your garage?

As for me, i might need an built longblock very soon because my copper gaskets are leaking radiator fluild. I talked to a local mechanic and he stated to swap out an engine is about 750 usd (special price for me). So I am thinking about spend another 600 usd build the forged longblock and have it swap out the old engine. Its only additional 600. My mechanic stated even changing the head gaskets would be $800 alone. Swapping will be cheaper. What do u think?

Mine are sitting around ;)

I am spending my time trying to get the 2UZ (brand new long block) in the Supra, so I can work out all the other issues like fuel injection, transmission, etc. As soon as that is done, then I'll start working onthe 1UZvvti: new con rods, ported heads, kelford cams. Once that motor is complete, it gets swaped in and the 2UZ swaped out. Then (finally) I start working on the new intake manifold for the whipple 2.3l supercharger. Once that's done, the supercharger gets installed on the 1UZvvti in the Supra.

I'll build an engine with my forgies once I blow up my "standard" engine (ARP studs, MLS gaskets and ACL rings and bearings). Hopefully I will achieve 500rwhp with the 1st engine, not really bothered if this is on pump fuel or race fuel. Once I do that or the engine goes "bang" I will start my quest for a 1000hp 1uz and then try to get the (all steel body, no tubs and street drivable) HZ into the 9's. :)

My pistons, studs and gaskets are occupying space on a shelf in the garage.

I'm collecting parts for the engine. I'll be seeing Pete at QCA Thursday morning and we'll see what he can supply toward the build.

400ZED is checking with Ivan Tighe on head work and cams (they use Kellford blanks) as part of the build.

Rods seem the biggest hurdle at the moment.

My plan is get the new trans running correctly with the current Crown engine then swap in the new blown engine when it's built. As I prefer to work on the car in winter and drive it in summer, the new engine may be a bit over 12 months away.

i was reading an artcle in a mag that stated ROSS pistons were used in the turbonetics V8 celica a few years back.. that put a smile on my face.. i know they were well over 1000 hp..
one set is going in the TTsc400, one set in the Lex-Rolla..im trying to source con rods for the Lex-Rolla, so rdms sc400 will be getting the pistons first.. during the summer sometime..

I just took my engine in two days ago for a complete build up. The heads are getting vip service too. Got Supra TT OEM Springs, Retainters and Locks with new valve work up. If my budget allow, i will get it ported. However, i asked the engine build to do a flowbrench first on the stock heads and do it after the porting.

He also can make me a set of cams too.
