Cooling system refill

Whenever I have to refill cooling system from scratch it takes several days to get it working properly... I firstly fill via catch tank with blead bolt removed from top of block... engine gets hot but radiator does not... let car cool down overnight... add maybe 1.5litres,,, repeat process... temp goes up & down making ghastly gowning & 'bubbling' sounds... maybe do this 3-4 times before cooling system fluid is stable.... clearly I'm not doing this right.... Any suggestions ?

If you fill the catch sank the coolant will only be drawn into the engine after the engine has heated and then cooled down.

I fill it through the fill bolt at the thermostat and top up the catch tank so it has coolant to replace the air that will be purged out.

I ended up putting a cap into the top radiator hose... I haven't filled from empty yet but I think this will do the trick...
