As some of you are aware im doing the 1u swap into my bmw e30 with a link.
I need to no what belts/leads ect i need to freshen it up? im not using
a a/c so is the cam belt the same length as normal? tensioner ? what lengths are needed etc? cheers for all your help

Think of it as a bare engine, with no leads etc. What do i need without the a/c there. Any thing else i should get rid of or add

Im about to do the same thing, IE fire an import engine for the first time.

I'll be changing:

Spark plugs (and go 1 colder as its going to spend alot of time on redline)
Cam belt
Timing belt (also minus air con)
Oil and filter

and check and replace if necessary:
water pump
idlers

If anyone else can add to the list Im sure we'de both appreciate it.
Riv.

I'd replace the water pump, idlers and tensioners, both Cam belt and serpentine belt, would also consider the plugs, leads, rotors and caps if it fits in the budget or at the very least check them. Most of them aren't that expensive and it gives you a pretty solid start for service intervals.

I'd also be tempted to rebuild the power steering pump if you're planning on using it.

Drifty... after new rotors and caps etc... you might consider using the Link to run wasted spark or sequential ignition as an alternative.

PS you get your parts off Warwick?

Look into it mate but will be quite expensive imo? Na mate getting the bits off Jason Bunnz? toymota parts rep

haha nice, your shout for beer then!

I just use copper plugs actually. Cheap and reliable... I would just go standard heat range if I was you. No need for anything else.

lol. year standard plugs sound good. How much do you think your computer and tuning will end up costing ya?

I mean what model plugs :)

Best to fit all this while the engines out of the car aye ?

Best to do the water pump and pulleys and belts etc yes. Not such a big deal with plugs and leads.

NGK copper plugs, dont have the part number handy but will be B (heat range) something.

Hmmm good question. I think the retail on the ECU and tune will be around $3700-4000. But thats including a complete new loom custom made, the ECU and dyno tuning. You could do it cheaper though.
