A/C making noises

My A/C comes on when the front defrost comes on, son that's why it's been on; i'd also assume that's normal?

Anyways, while the a/c button is depressed a whining noise comes from the engine compartment... it's dark out now, and i can't be bothered to try and figure out what's wrong yet. I was just hoping by the time I go out tomorrow I'll have some insight on where i should start or what to do.

sounds like it may be the compressor,check if the noise goes away with the a/c off,then when on give the engine a quick rev and see if the noise increase with revs.

If so dont use it until someone qualified looks at it the comp could be crapn itself,you will make things worse if it is and will be adding to the replacement costs.Ive replaced quite a few of the compressors for the soarers and celsiors that have failed internally.

That's exactly what's happened... I was just hoping that it wasn't going to take a new compressor.
