91 ls400-how to replace heater core?

Hey Everybody,
Have any of you changed out the heater core on a first gen LS (I'm guessing I'll have to access through either the glove box or behind the temp control unit)? I have some sort of clog downstream of the heater control valve and I'm going to attempt to remedy it by changing out the heater core. Probably a blown o-ring of some sort is stuck in the heater core since I found a piece of an o-ring at the inlet of the heater control valve. Current symptoms are no heat, blower is fine, full coolant, a fine thermostat....any insight would be appreciated..thx....

Oh man, you're going to have to remove the dashboard completely to replace it.

Have you checked for flow through the heater circuit? Cheers

I think the answer to your question is yes. I removed the heater control valve near the firewall and attempted to force water in the inlet hose and it was clogged. I'm currently attempting to remove the glove box, but it's awfully stubborn. Have you removed this without damaging it? It sounds like I'll have to take out the center consol according to the other mate....
