How would you like to put the below emblem on the side of your car? Yes, its the Ford 5.8 Liters (351W). Would it be nice if we can stroke our UZFE engines to 5.8L? It might not be too far away. I contacted a Darton Reseller and I can get one MID Sleeve for $175 for testing. I am seriously thinking about doing a 5.8 liter. What do u think?

* 5.8 Liters
* JBrady Headers
* Mild N/A cams
* BFI
* Mild Head work

Desktop dyno sheet will be here soon, once Mikeman have some time to input the parameters. Could you imagine if you have two 5.8 emblems on the side of your car? People would like....... scratching their heads..... 5.8??? Windsor??? Ford???? WTF????? LOL

If any heads are up to it, the 3uz and 2uz heads are it. I would imagine it would need 1mm oversized valves, and some serious port work. Twin GT40s would no doubt be in order.

Lex, I'm all ears to see how this will work out.

Matt,

I feel you've voiced aconcern I have with large capacity N/A 1UZ's.

The valves are not all that large and the potential to increase their size is quite limited.

I feel it could be built but Forced Induction may be needed to get it to rev real hard.

Titanium rods, titanium connecting hardware, titanium valve components, lightweight driveshaft, lightweight flex-plate, shimless buckets, lightweight pullies, knife edged & balance the new crankshaft.
It'll rev pleanty fast!

My motto, if you can afford a $2500 custom stroked crankshaft, you can afford the $680 titanium con rods, $100 titanium wrist pins to go with them!

My machine shop tells me on a 300hp domestic v8's they normally make 30-40 horsepower off just titanium rods by 6000rpm & the difference is huge by 8000.

Here's one thing I'm going to be curious about. How will this affect the heads coolant passages, and will they have to pushed outwards to run such a large bore?

A quick off the shelves parts check..

5.7" rods
3.50 stroke (not off the shelf)
1.15 CH dished pistons (4.000" bore) CR 8.8-11.5

Stock stroke + rod length + Ch= 10.33"
3.5: Stroke + 5.700" Chev 327 rods + 1.115CH dished pistons= 10.315"

An ISS of .719 in the 1uz-fe block seems to allow for a 4" (101.600) bore.
18.262mm + 87mm = 105.262mm
This leaves a 3.662mm / 2 sleeve thickness of 1.831mm

If the heads water passages don't have to be moved, then it may be a winner.

Ditto turboandrew. I wanna know where I can get a set of 8 Ti rods for the same money I'd have to pay here for 2 Arrow H beam ones...

Generally, Titanium rods cost about 600-700usd........a piece. Pauter Ti rods are 1,000 usd a piece.

I think 1uzfe heads with 1mm over size valves and lots of porting along with cams can be as good as or better than 2 or 3uzfe heads.

cams go a long way in NA applications, and what compression ratio are we talking about? 12:5.1 would be a nice ratio for 5.8 liters, comparing to the LS1 cars...

Cams would make a big difference in this application, just look how hard the curve falls off past 5500. Oversized valves maynot hurt either. Would MKIV valves work in the application to provide a larger valve?

I'm still thinking about this being a FI motor. Twin GT40's and a 9.5:1 compression ratio would be devastating : )

Eric

Twin GT40's? OVERKILL even for nearly 6 liters! Im a fan of single turbo setups, so maybe Im a little biase. I think the GT42R owns on cars at 3.2 (stroked supra's) to even 500 ci Chevy big blocks. but stoked motor wouldnt really need FI would it? I think 4.7 liter is the way to go under boost, and 5.8 liter would be a nice NA setup with coated pistons make it a NOS monster and spray 200 shot on top of that and kill!
