Are you guys interested seeing the Triad doing a 5.2L N/A swap for a 1995 LS400? We will be swapping the standard 4.0 with a 5.2L stroker.

Date: April 4th
Time: 9 am Pacific Time (USA)

More details on webcam will come.

David, you would do this when I'm over in the big sandbox and webcams, etc. are blocked by our IT Gestapo....

For sure take a video of it for those of us who can't tune in.

We figure it will take 6-8 hours for the whole swap. So vid might be hard but we can take some short clips when the engine start.

Can you place a speaker next to the webcam so I can heckle and harass you guys from my computer microphone? I can say, "nooo I wouldn't do that! you should do it like this.... " hahaha

I'll be checking it out.

We took a while to get the engine out. Someone forgot to release the shifter linkage. Hmmmmm. Anyway, we almost got all the accessories transferred but we ran out of time and we need to continue next week to re-install the new engine. Studs were torqued to 70 lbs and Toyota OEM MLS 2uzfe HG. Timing marks were all aligned. Engine rotate freely without any interference (pistons/Valves, cam gears with ARP Studs). I just can not wait until this engine fire up. It will be very sweet. Huge thank to JamesN, Stevechumo and Albert S. We worked from 8 am to around 5 pm. Everyone worked hard and we had fun.

I guess the person who forgot that was in the harsh time of not getting enough sleep. The condition was kind of extreme. :biglaugh:

David, you're welcome. This engine should start up smooth from what I see.

Anything for my friend David. Even if I have to take out a vacation day to do it. The 5.2L motor look awesome. Make me want to get mine going sooo badly.

I called my engine builder today about the spilled we had on the buckets... he stated that I need to check for the clearance and if change I need to take out the cams and timing belt to redo the cam clearance...

Guys,

We plan to install the engine today at 4 pm. With some help it should not take more then 3-4 hours. Here are some pictures before install.

Yes Smitherz,

It looks identical from outside but resleeve and stroked inside. My Triad didnt have time to help me today. I can not install the whole thing myself. So we delay this task until Thursday.

After few delays the engine was finally in. Thanks to Stevechumo and JamesN. All the hoses are plugged, all the plugs are in, the exhaust system was connected along with the driveshaft. So everything is in and really to fire up. But.... But... But... When we try to pull the engine out, please read this post http://lextreme.com/forums/showpost.php?p=105030&postcount=10 We forgot to release the linkage and we broke the shifter mechanism and the starter system is associated with the shifting electonic. So I can not start the car until I find a 1995 to 1997 LS400 shifter. I openned up shifter and all the plastic were broken. Please see diagram http://lextreme.com/starter/starter-diagram.JPG

So we have to wait. Meanwhile here are some pictures... The engine looks complete stock.

FYI. The LS is alot harder to install than the SC. Alot of gymnastic to get the LS400 engine mounts in their position.

Looks super clean David, do you have a thread about the 5.2l motor? Or can you summarise what's in it?
