i think this category is for people to showcase their projects?

anyway i'll list the stuff i'm involved with.

friend of mine has an ae86 sprinter (similar to an ae86 gts corolla to you guys in the states) - guess what? the 1uz just fits in the engine bay!! conversion is nearly there now..

also involved in a 1uz to ma61 supra conversion (if it ever gets off the ground) plan is to supercharge it using an aeton m90 supercharger too

1uzfe Into St162 Celica

Hi All Am In The Process Of Fitting A 1uz Into My St162; Which Means Of Course Changing The Car To Rwd( The Only Way To Go) Not An Easy Project; But Love The Old St And The Engine Finally Had Enough( Heaps Off Klms) I Havent Seen One Done But A Dude In Aussy Put A 1 Uz Into A Gt4 And Added Two Turbos! Turned It Into Rwd As Well. Killer! He Reckons The Handling Has Improved; Gotta Say The 1uz Certainly Seems Lighter Than The Old 3sfe And Auto That Came Out. Probably More Weight In Front Of The Axle; So I Will Be Interested In How She Handles(sand Bags In The Boot? Hopefully Not! Trying To Stick An Irs Out Back Might Be More Hassle Than I Need; But Am Looking At Options. A Lot Of The Rotary Guys Over Here Like The Hilux Diff(solid Axle) Very Tough Apparently. I Like The Idea Of A Hilux Centre In A Supra Or Lexus Or Similar Irs. Any Ideas Would Be Appreciated. Cheers

Hi Sumurai like you;re ride man; can you help out an igno like myself and tell me the model and year of you;re celica. I like that era of celice; do you know when the first celicea was introduced? I seem to remember reading nthe early 70;S read a performance car mag article on a celica 200o gt; real honey of a ride; similar shape tou you'res i think. I have an 87 st162 which is the first of the front wheel drives; good enough car but rwd is the way to go in my opinion, So that brings me to 1uz v8 + tired engine in st162..........hmmmmmmmmm. ok measured up; its gonna fit; just need major tunnel work; and the grafting in of a rear end drive(diff).
Got my work cut out but am inspired by the likes of Justengt8 gt4 with 1uz; although in his he already has a semblence of a tunnel and the rear end. When do you think you are going to get started on you;re project. keep sending the pics as you prgress id lov to c how it all starts piecing together; What sort of box you running; do you have access to a flywheel? all the best man

Well the old Celica's are surely not the finest cars on the planet....However, to swap an 1uz in one of those light in weight older Supra rides could make for some serious driving fun....Good luck with the swap STRETCH...Any plans to boost the 1uz after the swap is in place?

A boosted 1uz in an 88 Celica GT would be scary fast.....

Stretch, its a 1977 RA29. The very last year on the 1st gen. They came out in 71 as a coupe, but the liftbacks like mine didnt get to North America untill 76. Good luck with your Gen4 project, it sounds like a lot of work, but that should be a real sleeper when its done!
I'm going to be using a MkIII Supra R154 5speed and MkI supra LSD rear end. Flywheel will be customed, I havent decided what route I'll aproach that from yet but i imagine it will just be a supra turbo fly modified for my UZ.... The thing I love most about this car is all this crazy ass stuff just about bolts in! I dont have to really cut or weld anything but a few brackets. I have all the racing suspention options of the AE86 crowd, combined with classic looks and V8 performance. I've spent a lot of time obsessing over toyota's but have never found a car as easily modded as this one! :D

Well the old Celica's are surely not the finest cars on the planet...
Assuredly not. They dont have all the creature comforts that a modern car has, but they can be performance beasts. They are Very similar in design to the AE86, Infact my car will be using ALL AE86 suspension and steering, combined with the rear end from a supra. All this stuff is basically bolt in.
It might not be as comfy as your lexus, but it will smoke circles around it!

There has never been a light weight supra. They are all heavy even the MkI.

Smoke circles around me? Please explain further because I think not......A N/A 1uz in an 88 Celica Supra will not smoke my Sc400 while running on the juice... I don't see that happening... Boost the 1uz that has been swapped in the 88 Celica then maybe it can run circles around me......

Nope. I geuss we were thinking of different cars. Celica supra's are heavy, and the UZ is not much more HP than the 7mgte. But in a 2500lb 77 celica with all out race suspention... That's a diferent story. Dont get me wrong, I love the SC400. It's a Beautiful car. But it wasnt a race car, and it doesnt have as many options for modding as an old celica. Lets just say that even with a stock 1uz 1st gen celis run low 13's high 12's on the 1/4. I dont know, perhaps you've already modded your car past that so I wont really coment there...

If you've ever had a ride in a 7m powered hachi you would understand just what a HUGE difference the extra HP makes to a little car. Now put a light weight V8 in there! The engine toyota made for your car is perhaps the best engine toyota's ever made. I love and respect the lexus brand and lineup. Well, dont really care much for the FWD's but I've always thought it would be alot of fun to put a 5speed in a SC400 8)

12's and 13's aren't too shabby...That is not running circles around me though... Anyway, good luck with your swap...What ECU are using? Stand Alone? Are you using the stock headers and then customizing the exhaust after that with the dual cross over setup? Bellhousing? Motor mounts? Instrument integration? MAP or MAF?

Swaps can be trouble, but fun.......
