FIRST TIME POSTER MANY TIMES READER.
I HAVE A 2000MOD HILUX 4X4 3.0Lt DIESAL
MOST OF MY QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED IN THIS FORUM BUT HERE ARE 2 IM HAVING TROUBLE WITH.

1. DO I NEED TO DO A BODY LIFT TO FIT THE 1UZ INTO THE TRUCK?
(i have read some saying you do some you dont)

2. IS THE G/BOX PATTERN THE SAME AS AN EARLY MODEL HILUX?
(the bellhousing conversion seems common for the early model hilux, but no details for the later model)

Any info is appreciated
Thanks
Max

best ring castlemaine rod shop

i know the rod shop bellhousing has holes to suit the hilux gbox
but it can be redrilled to suit a stronger supra gbox

i could find out if the early and late gboxes are similar but im out of the country at moment

Most people have done the 2" body lift, has anyone gone to 3"
And can you leave the g/box and still fit the engine without going back 35mm? is it to help with the sump clearance?
Thanks

Lower is always better in the world of 4x4's. High COG = Flop over. I've heard 1" to 1.5" is all that is needed. I have a 1" body lift currently and am hoping it is enough. I'm considering an oil pan mod to clear the steering. I'd prefer no body lift at all, but I'll be running 35's. :smokin:

Thanks for the replys.
Anyone know what a 1999 hilux 5L diesal motor with 70k and a dts aftermarket turbo kit is approx worth to sell?

I hav just fin a 98 hilux and did 2" lift but had to move gearbox forward 25mm, there seems to be a few differances in the 97 up models, I also used crown mid sump and scalloped a bit out to clear ifs diff centre, no way in the world will a front sump fit in a 97 up without extensive mods coz I tried, was plenty of room up front left to fit 16" thermo to std alloy rad and has no probs cooling v8

Completed

Here is a picture of my completed 2000 hilux xcab with the 1uz fitted.
Thanks to everyone who answered any of my questions.

Didnt take as long as planned, im still fiddleing with the small stuff.

Ps. it bloody flies now!

depending on what g/box you have you can get a bell housing to suit from either castlemaine rod shop or dellow autos , just tell them what box you have and they'll send you the right bellhousing and all the other bits that go with it

Max - do you have more pics?

I had the radiator custom made 4 core, when i had the turbo it used to over heat on the highway, so i figured the v8 would cook if i didnt upgrade the it.
Some mods..
Mictotech Lt10s with hand controller
Custom extractors to 3' Exhaust tucked right away
16' Thermo and a 10' at the front for the aircon (which isnt fitted std)
Raised the g/box 25mm but not any forward
3' Body lift (just matched front bullbar today rear bar soon)
New engine mounts and modified mid sump to miss diff
Retaine OEM air filter and fuel filter
Just busted the left engine mount today!

hey max i will be gettin one of those radiators soon
mine got up to 110 degrees the other day
i have a custom 3 core copper/brass rad

doesnt work to good

i might have a prob with engine with cooling

ive always had cooling issues

Nice job on the conversion Max!!! Got any pics of you whole truck?

And who did you exhaust headers? I need a set for my 4runner, but didn't think they'd be able to fit in the space I've got....but yours seem to fit perfectly!!

Cool....don't suppose he made a template at all? So then I could just buy a set off him and install them myself? Or are they a one off custom job?

Sydney is a bit far to take my truck for some headers.
