1uz in hilux power issue

We have recently done a conversion in a 95 Hilux using a SC400 motor and auto. The car was running fine, auto changing correctly, no overheating issue etc. Parked it and next morning started it to find it idling very slow and when I tried to drive it had very little power and smelt really rich. At idle the tacho was reading jut under 500rpm but when you apply throttle the tacho drops to zero. Has anyone had a similiar issue or suggest first place to start looking.

Had a scanner plugged in but did not get any fault codes

what were the real time parameters then? Water temp, MAF, fuel trims?

Maybe it dropped a coil And is only running on 4cyl. It's happend to me a couple of times with those symptoms

The Tacho is driven off one of the ignitors (the one that has a wire connected for every pin - not the one with one less wire). If the tacho stops working, means there is a problem in that circuit... maybe even a faulty ignitor? You probably have the problem sorted by now anyway.
