Hello,

I think I made a mistake...
I changed the rear main seal on the cranckshaft of my LS400 1UZ first engine.
I watched a video from CartuneNZ and he used an hammer to be sure that the seal go all the way until the stop inside the plate.
But after, I saw a tuto from Lexls and it says that the seal should be even to the edge.
Do you know if it could be problematic and it will leak?
I am scared that the seal is too deep and the lip doesn’t touch the cylindrical part of the crankshaft.

Thank you :)

Take the cover off and do some measurements.

If the seal is on the crank all good. if not it needs to be backed off.

I would trust Cartune implicitly.

Maybe someone has a spare engine and can check if the stop in the cover is still aligned on the crank or if it’s too deep

Hello,
Kelvin helped me and he told me that it would be ok even if my cover is not the same than his cover in the video.
Maybe he could write his answer here for other people who would have the same problem
