Lexus & Toyota Performance Torque Converter
 

These torque converter are rebuild with performance in mind.  These TC are special order and made to my specifications.  Here we will take a tour to the shop where is it made.  Here is how torque converter work in your Lexus V8.  Now performance Tundra and inline 6 (2JZGE) torque converter available!

The first thing we do is to open up the old-warn out torque converter.

The TC then goes through an aligment process on the lathe. Secondly, we also lathe off the fins to make TC stronger.

After the TC is fully clean and ready to stall speed setting.

After the stall speed is set, we tig weld all the fins for maximum stregth.

The TC is ready to be welded and balanced.

This procedure is tagging the TC with balancing.

After its balanced, the TC goes on the lathe for automated welding to enclose the unit.

After the TC is welded and its pressurized under water and check for leaks.

After the torque converter is done, it will be painted for a fresh look.  This product will be stronger than stock and have better launch than stock for couples of reasons:

1. The stall speed is set higher than stock.  Therefore, launch will be harder
2. All fins or flex plate are welded to the torque converter for maximum strength.  This will allow high horse power applications.

Failure modes for torque converters manifest themselves in different ways: slow failure, i.e. loss of power over time, instant failure, i.e. input shaft spine failure. With the aging TC's, its time to refresh your Torque Converter. Lexus/Toyota OEM TC is very expensive and after market TC's will run you around $900. This is the best alternative to above methods.

Now the question I always get.  How is this torque converter compare to the one sells for $900.  I do not know and no one will have an objective answer.  Would more expensive torque converter be better?  We will never goes to find out.  Unless you have two identical cars to test side by side in 0-60 and 1/4 mile.  Different stall speed will give you different results.  Its really hard to say.  However, you will save $600 and use it for yourself.
