Windscreen Washers Not Working! Any Suggestions?

Hi there,

My windscreen washers on my 1991 LS400 have stopped working. Theres plenty of fluid in the reservoir, and there are no sounds when you try to activate the washers. I've checked all the fuses and they are fine.

Can anyone suggest what to check next? Where the relay and motor are located? Testing procedures for these etc?

Start at the washer resevoir with a meter or test light and work your way back to the fuses.

Have you checked there is power goining into the fuse when the switch is activated.

You have 3 potential culprits.

1. the switch is dead.
2. there's a wiring fault
3. the motor has burned out.

The motor will be under the resevoir.

It's a process of elimination. I usually start at the motor and work back but plenty of others will go the other way.

The motors are the most likey thing to fail.

It all worked fine after I took it out the car, gave it a proper clean, cleaned the electrical connections and popped it back in!
