David, I agree with your boost estimates, but I am more optimistic about the HP levels with a whipple. The whipple is very effcient, and I am also using a vvti 1UZ, so I expect I can get ~250 rwhp with no blower at all, maybe a bit more (300?) with headers/exhaust/tuning. Perhaps I need cams to reach a goal of 600 rwhp with the whipple.

iv found an m90 for sale so am just looking into whether to get it or hold out for a vortech. looking over that pulley size and expected power chart, an m90 with the smallest pulley only pushes 270rwhp? thats around 200rwkw? at the moment with my internally standard engine iv got over 180rwkw, so why would anyone want one of these blowers?

Hey found this site through supraforums as I'm a member there and also a member at clublexus. The swap does not always cost $11,000. It can range from $7000-15000 depends if your going 6 speed and/ or single turbo upgrade. Most of the expense is from the 6spd swap. If your going w/ the auto TT swap then you can knock off $3000-$4000 easily. You also have to consider that a single turbo upgrade for a 2JZ GTE is fairly cheap now. You can find a Greddy T78 or T88 complete turbo kit for $1500-2500 used or new and it will give you 500rwhp from slapping on the kit. Anyway there are so many ways to break the budget down. Some people buy parts piece by piece. Some buy as a whole or a combination of both. Here's my budget breakdown when I did the swap a few yrs ago.

Used JDM 2JZ GTE(complete w/ ecu, harness, 6spd transmission) $5500(you can find a US spec motor and trans for the same price, but it may take longer to look)
Brand new US spec harnesss $700(most people just extended the harness instead, at the time I thought it was not reliable, but I found out extending harness requires no skill and is just as reliable as using a brand new harness)
Brand new 6spd complete rearend $1700
Brand new 6spd driveshaft $460
6spd slave cylinder and rear differential bolts $200 I forgot how much it was.
Complete front TT brakes $400(bought from a member of sf)
TT rims $400 also from a member of sf
Labor depends on the shop. The shops I know charge $1500-2500 depending if your goin single or not. Most people when they do the swap they go single at the same time so it would be fairly cheap.
Overall when I sold my car I got most of the $$$ back.
 
JamesN, how did you spend 11K, and i would hope it would be bpu at that point. I believe and correct me if i'm wrong. PHR and other big shops do the 2jzgte shop in house with a new toyota short block for $11,500 including labor, plus exhuast, boost control and in house tune so its already bpu and laying down over 400rwhp! Of course this is for the na supra, but i'd assume its the same.
 
hex lex, when your friends payed 11k for their setup, 1) Was that including parts also? 2) was it on the sc300,400, LS400, or GS 300,400?

Yeah, the Car is BPU+ but it is not tune yet. Reason is that I wanted to go with AEM EMS. There is no point spending on tuning stock ECU. I can live with it for now. I think the reason this swap cost alot because it is one of the rare swap, since the car was an SC400. I have to change and relocate alot of things. SC300 is a bit easier and more cost effective to do IMO.
 
Hmmmm... $11,000 on NA mods.
I wouldnt mind a 10,000 RPM 400-500hp VVTI 1UZ
