VVTi or Non VVTi...?

I'm in a bit of a spot...I can get a hold of a VVti with a computer..BUT has a cut loom and no plug for computer..OR i can get a standard lex Non VVti with a uncut loom...for whats it's worth..do the toyota computers actually run these engines best or should i look at a after market one..which is gonna cost more $$$..thats the guestion..? any help anyone would be welcome..Cheers:sgrin:

Dude, I want that VVTi motor I have non at the moment! haha

I am running a Link G3, my flatmate is making a custom loom from the 1UZ to it (owns a tuning company here). The Link can control the VVTi nicely

yes indeed but it will cost me $2250 for the g3link that will run the vvti mota... and i'm not sure i can go that way cost wise..see i just bought my tires @ $1380.00 with rims and 34" so cost is gettin high..

huh..?? can you explain this please..? Natrually asperated as a posed to FI? forced Induction..? If thats what you mean i'm keeping it stock..But if i was to FI it then the standard 1uz is better?

Yeah stronger rods in the non VVTi 1UZ... add the price of a loom to the cost of the computer!

PS I have a stock ECU for the 1UZ here since I am going G3.

Yup, that's what i meant and yup standard (pre 95ish), is better as much stronger rods and slightly lower comp ratio (not that the comp ratio would bother me much if used with a good ECU).

Yes as Justen said, it seems its not even just pre-vvti, its pre-95 engines with the stronger rods.

you could get the VVTi engine and just put the pre-95 rods in there instead...best of both worlds (minus the lowered comp ratio). Go VVTi

Left: 1989 to 1994 1uzfe
Middle 1: VVTi 1998-2000 1uzfe, 2001-2006 3uzfe,
Middle 2: 2000-2006 UZFE
Right: Lextreme Forged H Beam for all uzfe engines from 1989 to 2006

You can use the pre 95 rods and there stronger. There are few other rods are lot stronger then Pre-95 rods too.
