There's a mob on ebay selling Volo performance flash chip thingy's that wire into 4 wires on the OBDII outlet that claims to:
Digitally tune your ECU using your vehicles OBDII port.. . . . Their claiming 22hp increase . . . . Does anyone know anything about these ?

how come chips work so well on diesel trucks but not on anything else?

I believe the trick has something to do with ecology settings. Every diesel that drives hard always spits loads of black smoke. So maybe with diesels it's enough just to flood the engine with more fuel.
