V8 100 refuses to accelerate

I have a 1999 Landcruiser V8 VX and there is an intermittent problem that I am trying to resolve. Can any one help? In the morning after I start on a school run the car will suddenly refuse to accelerate. Sometimes the engine light comes on but most often it doesn't. I then have to turn the car off and restart it. Sometimes I have to repeat this procedure numerous times and something resets then I can continue. As this problem is intermittent the dealer can not do anything about it?:werd:

I'd be looking for a high resistance joint at the ECU or sensors.
