Adapting the trans to the engine is the easy part. Any fool can do that.
What you need to consider is the torque converter needs to adapt to the 1UZ flexplate and the nose of the converter needs to fit inside the 1UZ crank, plus it all needs to be spaced just right. In amongst all that the torque converter must be llowed to move fore an aft with revs. Hence the need for a FLEX plate.
This is not a simple problem.
The tolerance you work with, with an auto is 10thou. That's 0.250mm for the metrically inclined. A conventinal clutch will survive this tolerance but any more and your auto will die.
Think a lot before embarking on the project as I'm well into mine and it gets tougher by the day.
