stuck in second

Hi Guys am just trying to finish off a 1uzfe out of als400 from 92ish conversion into a hilux and have run into a rather odd problem. My a341e wont shift out of second, when its in drive. And will only select 1st gear when I manually select it and am not on the throttle. it grabs all the gears after second after it winds up very slowly and feels like its got a shit loader of ignition retard, because it just wont go. Anyone had this problem... Just so you know I've done the shift solinoids, and had alittle bit of a play, and am thinking its not getting a signal from a gearbox sensor or something anything would help atm.

Is the ECU seeing the gear inputs correctly? I connect my scan tool to check this. I've also seen issues inside the gearbox when people have stuffed things up in there.

Thanks guys. Yeh i have tryed to manual shift it without the electrics hooked up but no such luck still carries on.
