Street Legal Bug in California

Anyone in here have a street legal bug in Cali? I wonder if a 1UZ powered bug be possible or not.

as in VW bug? I've been thinking that all month.....
and being a former vw fan I think it is very possible if you get a reverse ring gear and pinion. Being that the 1uz rotates in the wrong direction.

Or flip the box like an early Kombi (bus) did.

They used to turn the crown wheel over when doing Corvair (flat 6 cylinder Chev) swaps.

Aparently it was straight forward to do.

I don't doubt Google whould answer that.

lol I just dyno'd a corvair with a flipped transaxle and a 327 in the rear seat.
I didn't really think about applying it to a bug.

In a VW/Corvair swap the axle is turned upside down so the right side becomes the left not the back become the front.
