Hi Guys, Ive put a couple of posts in another thread ( Crown auto into Hilux 4wd) regarding info on these trans so I/we can use the auto Delco computer to run trans as well as engine. I'm from Kalmaker.
We've been running the 1UZ very successfully on the VN/VP 808 computer without the auto box, but why not run the auto trans that usually comes free with engine as well?......Ive been trying to find the time to do this for over 3 years, but now I am serious.
I have put this combo in a 67 Mercedes finnie for my Mrs, and is about 3 weeks away from running.
I have a K'Dog tiptronic which I guess I'll have to run while developing/converting the VR/VS Commodore software.
Ive looked at heaps of manuals etc including many links from this forum, but there are a few things things I cant find.
The 2 speed sensors on the rear extension housing, one is 3 wire Hall Effect which seems to run the speedo
The other is a Magnetic Reluctor type, and Ive just found on a Supra site that there are 2 types here. One is for ABS equipped vehicles and the other without.
Mine is a ABS type which has a 32 teeth trigger on output shaft and has a wierd 3 wire type sensor. Usually reluctor type only have 2 wire and are sine wave, but from what Devojet and Sideshow say, this sensor converts back to square wave, maybe 4 pulse per rev.
The GM box has a 40 tooth reluctor wheel, but this 32 tooth reluctor wheel will be perfect, as I can adjust in software, but I need it as magnetic reluctor sine wave.
Does anyone know if non ABS is 2 wire and will it fit using the 32 tooth reluctor ring. The non ABS appears to have a 2 tooth trigger and may be different diameter, which means it may either contact sensor, or be too far away from it.
If sensor has same depth and 2 wire, it will make life easy

Also does anyone know hertz values of solenoids???

Cheers

Ok I think I found the answers to using a 2 wire sensor in a crown gearbox.

Also have you thought about modifying the delco? you could bypass the "VR conditioning Circuit" and add a "Hall conditioning circuit". A Hall conditioning circuit is much simpler than a VR circuit. A hall circuit can be made with a resister, a zener diode and a capacitor. The three wire speed sensor should still put out the 32 pulses.

Cheers

Daniel.

Thanks for that Daniel, PeeWee's idea will work fine on the Crown box, I'll try and find him and see if he still has a spare bracket, I met him a few years ago....
I didnt want to modify Delco if I can help it
An easy way will be to fabricate trigger wheel and mount in between diff flange and tail shaft and mount sensor to diff, but if I can use whats there it is easier
I may be able to modify 4 tooth trigger in the other trannies.....

i can get 2 wire inducti e speedo drives

i just got some made up and are 8 pulses per revolution of the speedo cable

i doubt that is enough for the hodlen vrvs auto sensor which is per rev of the output shaftt

but if u figure ut how many pulses u mght need on the speedo cable ill ask my supplier

most peope sell the 3 wire hal effect speedo sensors but ive found someone who makes 2 wire inductive for the speedo cable thread on gbox and u still can run a speedo cable too

of do what ive done before and mount an abs sensor on the diff with a rng gear between the tailshaft and diff front pinion would not be hard to get one made up like u said

another hting is i have a black box which can convert and asjust hall or inductive signal in and has inductive signal out

so u can have 3 wire in and 2 wire out and multiply it by up to 4 times

i used one of these when someone ftted a holden v6 into a hilux y would u bother heheheh

anyway cost customer 500 bucks to sort the speedo signal to the auto delco ecu to stop it from stalling
waste of money i think
