Sound System Prob

Sounds like with the static, it could be a bad potentiometer(volume control pot). You may be able to order a new one from Pioneer, if you can get the part number. I ordered a new pot for my home stereo receiver, soldered it in, and it works like new, without any static. Good luck!

If the static comes on when turning the volumn knob, then the knob may be the problem. If the static comes on without the knob turning, then more likely that's the bad speakers. Listen carefully to each speaker to hear where the static comes from.

On each side, there's one tweeter on each door panel near the side view mirror and one 4" speaker at the door bottom. There're also two 5.5" (I'm not sure 100% if they're 5.5") speakers on the rear dash (left and right), plus a 10" subwoofer in the dash center. It may cost the stereo shop $60 to fix and they charge you $600. They think people are afraid the Lexus is not easy to be fixed. They also may bring up the crap like "Your stereo has the security code that needs to be decoded", and they'll charge you $100 for just telling the lie.
