I need to fit a remote oil filter to my 91 1uz-fe engine. Does anyone know the correct thread size as its proving near impossible to seach for ls400 remote oil filter.

Thanks in advance for any help - Mike

Not positive, but it's probably a standard 3/4" x 16 thread for the spin-on, like most Toyota's?

Someone correct me if this isn't right.

Mocal make a nice little spin-on remote filter adapter that has an integral thermostat and 1/2" NPT In/Out female fittings, which are easily adaptable to -10 AN's. That might work for you.

Mike, as you are in the UK like me , you should try Demon Tweeks in Wrexham, that is where I got my remote filter kit from and it uses the standard LS400 filter too.

with gareth_r on this one

Myself (91sc400) my brother (94sc300tt) my sister (93suprana) we change our oil and filters at the same time (discount in bulk)
All use the same engine oil and filter

so look for a supra if you cannot find soarer one.

they use a ryco z418 filter this is correct one for the 1uz

but ive tried wrx subaru
and 4ag corrolla filters on my 1uz to see for room
they have same thread

i now use a custom filter which is very short

i just changed a fitler on a 1uz with heaps of room near filter and z418 fits perfect

u now just need to find an equivalent in the uk

its a very common filter
in australia so cant see how this can be too hard to find one
99% of jap cars use the same thread
just goto yr local auto parts shop and go thru the shelf

Is the custom filter specially made to fit straight on?

fits directly onto the engine where the orig filter sits
remote filters are ok but ive never liked them and it took me ages to find correct filter for me
one more connection is a place to go wrong

anyway these filters are 56mm tall

And many of us Supra owners use Landcruiser filters as they have more capacity than the 2JZ filter

Nice one guys - i can get landcruiser ones no probs over here. Was just a bit concerned over the height of the filter in the stock placement but with the engine in the Supra

Thanks for all your help

Mike, I should have clarified that. Many of us Supra owners who still have the 2JZ-GTE motor are running Landcruiser filters.

I don't know if the Landcruiser filter would fit a 1UZ in its stock location.

Sorry for the confusion.

Jim

Do you sell these small filters or can I get one anywhere?
