Well, I came across this forum after doing some research on the v8 swap into an ae86 for drifting(vids below). I've seen rally, road race and now drift 1uzfe ae86s. Since then I've done a pretty good amount of research on this swap. The main question is about what clutch and flywheel can be used if you use a w58 manual tranny on the 1uzfe? I'm also wondering what are the complications of making the 1uz manual with a w58 tranny(besides the bellhousing mod, custom engine and tranny mounts, custom exhaust.).

All the parts are available off the shelf in Australia to fit either a W or R series transmission, Plus about half a dozen other combinations.

Try Dellow or CRS. Do a search.

THe 1UZ will run fine without the Auto trans.

You need to bypass the inhibiter switch to allow it to start.

Thanks. Yeah I've searched those two places, seems like good work. I read that with some auto ecus it will only rev to 2,800 (I believe) with a manual swap? I would like to do this swap to keep it all Toyota and unique, of course down the road I'll use a standalone. I just need something I can be competitive in now and build up from there.
