So, I need to extend my shifter and it seems like I have to pull the back half on the trans apart in order to get the shifter piece out. Now im considering installing the Marlin Crawler R154 Thrust Washer. Anyone ever install one of these? I'm afraid of some spring, of washer or nut slipping off when I pull the trans apart. Any advice would be much appreciated!

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
I've only just had both upgrade items fitted to my R154 and would recommend you also fit the upgraded bearing retainer at the same time.
However, the gear shaft will need to be virtually stripped to fit the thrust washer thus needing a good bearing puller etc and a press so it might be wise to get a shop to do it if you don't have trans experience or the tools.
