What rear you thinking of. Back when i drove my celica, i guess in 2001 i raced a guy at a drag strip who had slapped a 355 and an auto into a car exactly like yours with slicks and a stock rear end. The rear end held up, but he was only running like a 14.1, so i don't know how much torque was going through it.
