Standalone ECU MICROTECH LT10S QUESTIONS

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
Yeah, it was the cam sensor wired wrong way around.

It fired up first key turn after I switched em around.

Thanks big time for all your help Sideshow! Your a champ!

its good when u eventually fire it up for first time

playing round with this stuff is fun and good to learn

thats y i will attempt most jobs many other auto elects wont go near

u might need a tacho booster to get the factory hilux tacho to work

otherwise just buy a cheap aftermarket

the cheaper they are the better they work on aftermarket ecu without need tacho booster

The only thing I have not connected is the tach output Blue/Grey.

The diagram shows -ve side of the coil plug

But when I connected it to -ve side of coil plug, the coil started
to trigger on and off? Is it suppose to do this? I disconnected
it because of this.

it shouldnt connect to neg side of coil
it comes form lt10 and goes to the tacho signal input

which on a hilux is left hand side of engine bay

u might stufff it if u keep connecting it to neg coil

Got her back form the exhaust shop yesterday.
Fun driving to the exhaust shop on the extractors.
Now that I can hear the engine, not just
an evil rumble, there's a rocker noise
coming from NO. 7. Like a tappet noise....
Hopefully thats all it is......
I'll pull the cover off and take a look....

Temp is fine, holds 82-84deg on H'way, up to 88-90 in traffic.
Other than that everything is sweet.

The Auto unit supplied by sideshow works a treat.
Piss simple too, plug in, wire to power and neg....too easy, excellent!
Thanks to Jim!

One thing I wanted to ask, is a 1uzfe a free spinning engine?
as to say, if it chucks a cam belt, doesn't it free spin or does
it destroy itself?

I just read this on planet soarer on about cam bucket shims;-

"Several times I have read that the battery side of the engine,
at the back, is a common place for the tapping noise to be heard.
If this is the case it suggests a common oil flow problem to that area.
"

This is were the noise is coming from on my engine. Can the mentioned
"common oil flow problem" be fixed, or is just something have to live with
and change the shims every time they start to make noise?

how much time do u have

to check and adjust shims properly will take you afew years

its a pain in the butt to do

if i had to do my 1uz shims it woul dbe easier to remove and relace engine hehehehe

I have way too much time on my hands Jim, you should know that!

The specialized Toyota tools have been made available to me through a mate
at Lexus so I don't have to pull the cams, and I've a good micrometer as well. I
imagine it shouldn't take that long to do.....Getting the shims I need to correct
it will take up most time.

...But is there a way to address the so called "common oil flow problem" as
mentioned that prematurely wears out the intake shims on NO. 7?
