Guys,
I was looking at increasing the standard compression around the 14:1 mark.
What would be the maximum compression advised with Australias 98ron fuel on a NA motor ?
Would o-ringing the heads and aftermarket head bolts be enough ?
Or would it be a lot more of a headache than i'm thinking ?

Regards

Stephen

14:1 compression ratio is way too high on pump fuel, I think the highest and most realistic comp ratio(for pump fuel) would be no higher then 11:1. Even then, tuning would have to be spot on. 14:1 would be best suited to alcohol fuels.
Hope this helps

You could probably go to 12:1 running 98 RON, a good aftermarket ECU (read MoTeC) and excellent tuning. If you wanted to go higher, you could use any of the racing fuels.

Obviously, you would only maximise the benefits with supporting modifications (cams, intake, exhaust, etc).

there is a company in qld, will have to try and track them down again, but they are mixing the BP 98 ron fuel with nulon pro strength, in the exact ratio as indicated on the back of the bottle, and are successfuly tuning around 12.5:1 comp ratio with this. I will try and found out again. They say this fuel mix is extremely similar in cumbustion technique as c16. Cool huh.

anything over this, you would want to run LPG or avgas, or similar.
