Low oil pressure

Hello people,

I am considering the 1uz for sale. It had low oil pressure when the guy started it. My intial thought was the oil pump, but I have been advised that this is highly unlikely. Someone also suggested a cracked block or bad bearing.

Any ideas to what it might be? I appreciate it a lot.

There are lots of 1UZ's out there.

Find one that has good oil pressure.

It costs twice as much to rebuild a 1UZ than to buy a good healthy one.

I was thinking the same. Though, there are not that as many VVT-i's as 1st and 2nd gens.

Also, it was going to be for a 1/2uz hybrid, so the bottom end was only a resale concern.

I do not know.

I wrote him to the effect of not being comfortable with purchasing the engine until I knew a little more about the problem. And he has probably sold it by now because he mentioned having received 2 other offers.

I will be keeping an eye out for another VVT-i and a low mileage 2uz block. I wish Japanese Importers would offer UZ's, probably would have 3uz already.
