I'm planning to buy a SX 700.4 this week, where can i read comments about this product?

BTW, after the set of JL audio XR tweeters that laster 10 minutes, this week, my set of new 4inches component XR lasted 2 hours, 2 speakers blown...

my setup and settings were verified by the specialist where i bought my stock and everything was settled perfectly. Good products...

at least, it was sounding very very very nice for the time it worked. Dunno if they will replace my front set of 4 inches, they might have received 12v and burned one coil, the other as lost a lot of defenition.

but i still wanna change my vocal amp because i don't trust the one i have right now.

2-3 weeks of waiting everytime something blows-up, it's VERY annoying.

When the tweeters are blown, there're 2 main reasons: over-powered by the amp/receiver or under-powered by the amp/receiver. The under-powered (too week of an amp/receiver when played with a powerful tweeter) is the most likely cause, especially when the music is played too loud. It sounds odd but it is. The reason is the tweeter has to draw too much current from the amp to feed it and causes too much distortion. However, there're many other factors as well. Wrong frequencies of the crossover module that doesn't match with crossover point of the tweeter...etc.

It might also be the same reason for your 4" speakers to be blown. Small speakers & tweeters tend to get blown quicker if the same situation (different specs) is applied to subwoofer.

Matching up the power/frequencies between the speakers and the amp/receiver is very important. They don't have to be exactly the same but near-perfect is also good. In music, loudness isn't really right. When the components are matched, all sound details will bring the music alive instead of distortion and loudness. I had professionally been in the stereo for more than around 10 years, including car and home, but not anymore. I'm currently only an audio enthusiast, building several speakers as a hobby.

forgot to put an update

the tweeters had blown away because of the Defect cross-over that came with them.

the 2 4 inches had the dust cap unglued just a little, this is what was doin the distortion.

I received and installed my new SX700.1 and the difference is pretty amazing. I wish i had more space in the door pannel to install another set of 4 inches to drop to 2OHM and get the full 175 watts from the amp instead of the 88. But still, the gain range is settled to 4 volts, same as my radio, and the gain is at 7/12. the sound is really nice, no more high volume distortion.

I wouldn't recommend to install any more panel speakers, especially when they're in pararell like you said. If you add more 4 ohm speakers to reduce resistance and increase the watts, you'll also increase some distortions. Especially from small speakers, they mostly have high frequency range and a little bass. The best way is to run bigger speakers (4 or 2 ohms is up to you), you can modify and install a mounting plate, and get the power from there.

What's your setup? Does this amp feed the 4 panel speakers? How about your sub. amp/ sub.?

I'm currently running 1 Kicker KX450.2 to feed a pair of 8" Infinity subs (200 RMS watts/each), 1 Mitsubishi 4 channels amp to feed 4 tweeters, 1 Kenwood digital electronic crossover to divide those subs and tweeters. For the panel speakers (front stock speakers, I couldn't find any better 4" aftermarket speakers, and 6.5" Kenwood speakers for the rear), I just hooked them up directly to the CD player for the midrange. I also have 1 farad capacitor to stabilize the current. I'm really happy with my setup. It sounds like day and night when compared to the stock setup. Mine is cleaner, clearer, smoother, livelier, and louder is the last.

Here's what I have.

Kicker DCVR 10" box (twin comp VR 10 inches in a ported box) running on a KX600.1

Pretty Amazing for 2 10 inches. I wouldn't wanna see 2 Comp VX in the same box, it'd scare the hell out of me

Vocal is a set of 2 JL audio XR series Tweeters 1inches, installed in stock door location (pain in the butt!)

2 pairs of 4 inches JL Audio XR series, 1 pair in the doors, 1 pair on the rear plate. (well... when they'll finally send me new ones...)

Tweeters are plugged in parallel with the 4 inches in the door pannel, just like the OEM setup.

The sound Quality is pretty amazing for now, even with only 2 speakers, the SX amp really changed the sound.

I also have a 1 farad 250 amperes capacitor. Twin 4 gauges running from the battery to the trunk, a few added engine/body grounds. Dynamat in the doors, pannel. And roof membrane everywhere in the car (stripped the entire car) to absorb exterior rattles and vibrations.

Maybe I'll buy another set of tweeters for the rear, since they're a little less loud than the front speakers. I know the best soundQ is when you don't hear where the sound come from, and i can't make the difference between the door speakers and the tweeters, but still, they're missing a little little presence in the sound.

All this on a Panasonic Head Unit with 4volts RCA preamp (Best headunit i bought, very reliable)

It seems like you know what you're doing. I used to have a pair of 10" Polks but I took them out and use the 8" Infinitys to gain some more room. Yes, you should have another pair of tweeters in the rear. With the rear tweeters, you may turn down the front tweeters and balance out the treble. I guarantee the high frequency will be smoother. For the rear, you can actually fit the 6.5" or even 6x9" speakers. I would go for the 5.25" or 6.5" due to easier fitment. 6x9" sound might be blocked a little due to the smaller stock grille diameter. If you want to know how to fit the bigger speakers, let me know. It's pretty easy. It only took me 1/2 hour for making 1 template, a jig saw work, and the 2 final mounting plates.

I have a Panasonic CD player, too. It's silver color and doesn't really blend in with other black EQ, black panels...etc, but I like its simplicity and sound. I don't mean to offend you by correcting you but when you mention "vocal", it actually means the midrange, or midrange with some high frequency. The 1" tweeters that you use are for high frequency only. It's as when you talk or even sing normally, you don't hear the high "tst..tst.." coming from the tweeters. A good sound system doesn't create any more "tst...tst.." than normal.

You're right for the midrange

it's a little too late for 6.5" since i already bought 4 4" it's just that 2 of them are shipped back for repairs. But yes, 6.5 would help a lot for the 140-180hz range. I bought 4 inches because i could mount them on stock speaker plastic bracket. with some dynamat around to make sure it's perfectly sealed around it.

The 4" speakers in the rear might not give you enough midrange to match with your gigantic 10" subs. My preference is always toward larger speakers (not too large. It'll be the opposite if they're too large), because larger speakers always sound better than the smaller ones. I'm talking about same class and same quality. But if comparing between a 15" sub and a pair of 10" subs, a pair of 10" subs will definitely beat the 15". Too large sub doesn't have the sensitivity as the smaller ones, because the sound from the center core needs a longer distance to reach the outer surround than the smaller sub. The 15" might sound louder but doesn't sound better. The 15" only comes lively when the system is cranked really loud. I never like the 15" in anyway. The max size that I went before was only 12".
